The Living Forest (454) : Variable Damselfly
The variable damselfly is less or more similar to the better known azure damselfly and the common blue damselfly with which it coexists.
However the variable damselfly has much more extensive black markings and appears slender.
Its markings are subject to considerable variation, hence its English and Dutch name.
My shot shows the beginning of the mating (tandem formation).
Dutch name : Variabele waterjuffer
German name : Fledermaus-Azurjungfer
Latin name : Coenagrion pulchellum
