The Middle Ages (34) : Leprous child
This series is an attempt to illustrate how life was going on in the Middle Ages.
Leprosy was omnipresent in the medieval society.
Also children felt victim of this terrible disease, like this young child, suffering from the first disorders.
At a later stage the disease looked like this !
Photographed at medieval festival of castle Franchimont (Belgium).

I don`t approve this illustration of Middle Age Life.Leprosy exists today under the name of Hansen's disease. It is only contracted in childhood. It has treatment but it`s necessary to know make its diagnosis what sometimes isn`t done by medical forgetfulness that the disease is present yet in our days.
