The Night before International Mother Language Day
The celebration of International Mother Language Day in Bangladesh usually starts at 20th February night.
The monument is in near Dhaka Medical College and THe University of Dhaka. From 20th February, all kind of vehicals are prohibited to enter in Dhaka University and Dhaka Medical College area so that the monument visitors can move easily there.
21st February is day of sorrow in Bangladesh's political history. In 1952, many students of Dhaka University were shot dead while they were opposing the West Pakistan's idea of imposing 'Urdu' (Pakistan's State Language) on us.
I shot this photo in front the Dhaka University. Here, we see some students of Dhaka University, sat down on the road, lit candles arranged as '21' in Bangla (out mother language).
