The Qeen Sleeps

I took this shot on a rare totally calm winter night in South Lake Tahoe. The lake is especially low at this time of year, and I was able to walk out on a sandbar and shoot back on the legendary Tahoe Queen as she slept for the night. As I was setting up the shot I was take aback by the dream like quality of the scene. A full moon with it's cool, blue, almost stark reflected sunlight only added to the beauty and tranquility of this fantastic moment. With a gathered flock of ducks floating silently to my side and behind me, I opened my shutter, stood back, took a deep breath of the cold clean mountain air and let the light and colors paint the censor on my Nikon.
