The World Beneath the Tracks - Broadway under the Marcy Avenue Station

The photograph, taken in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn, shows some of the "world beneath the tracks,"
the often vibrant street scenes that exist below the elevated tracks of NYC Subway lines.

While I love shooting the trains and the fascinating complex of signals and infrastructure that make the system
work (*), it was also exciting to start exploring, at street level during my June visit, some of these neighborhood stretches of shops and restaurants that mainly go by unseen from windows of passing trains or even when
standing on elevated train platforms.
