Turin Brakes @ the Milky Way

Turin Brakes @ the Milky Way, Amsterdam, 30th september 2005

One of my favorite bands, finally performing in the Netherlands in a long time. Luckily I had a place in front of the stage, where I made this picture. The best of both worlds: listening to great music and making pictures! ;-)

It is really difficult without flash, with the poor and changing light conditions and a lot of movement. I made 40 pictures (not including some test photo's during the support act ;-), and this one is the best: the sharpest and fairly lit. Can you give me some tips to improve it? So I can pay attention to it the next time I go to a concert.

Hi Lucien, I love concert photography, I understand the problem. What you can do is increase the iso up to 400.
Afterwards you can use Neat Image or Noiseware Professional Edition.

Yeah, I thought you might say that. I've got the same problem with my compact digital camera. I guess the trick is to take lots of pictures and hope that some come out good. Or get accreditation and bring a DSLR ;-)

Yeah, I tried to raise the iso settings to iso 200, but with my camera i get already too much noise for a nice picture. And it almost didn't matter in shutter time. But thanks for the tip!

Well done! I've tried a little bit of this stuff myself, with poor results mostly, and smoke, people moving, lights flashing can be real problems. Lost track of Turin Brakes myself after there first album, which was great. I'm glad you enjoyed the show. Haven't got any tips I'm afraid, except maybe raise the iso-setting a little to give you faster times to work with. You can be very pleased with this capture though.
    Greetings, Marit
