Wagner Cove - A Central Park Autumn Impression
Wagner Cove is a charming and calm little corner of Central Park Lake, not far from the
Cherry Hill Fountain. The spot was named for Robert Wagner, a mayor of New York in the 1950s.
This photo was taken on the first of three afternoons I spent in various parts of the Park in early
November, in search of vibrant autumn colors. At first, I wasn't sure if I hadn't perhaps come too early,
as this scene looks like it could just as easily be summer. Fortunately, Central Park is endowed with trees
of many different species, each peaking in color in their own good time; and further explorations deeper
into the Park over those three days would in fact reveal some of the reds and golds I was seeking.(*)
