Working for Survival
Porters in the Himalayas await the trekking season to make an honest living. Overwhelmed by western tourism, the mountains become busy and provide an attractive target for the locals to make their living. Working in the hardest conditions, lacking the proper clothing and equipment, they carry between 50kg and 100kg on their back for weeks, accompanying an expedition group or transporting goods to the villages, for around 10 US$ a day. Suffering from severe heath problems leading to death in the extreme cases, they keep working hard and being grateful.
A story to be told.
