Maki Mori. Born in Hiroshima in 1961. Living in Tokyo.
When I was a child, I spent a lot of time with my grandfather Akira Otoshi, who was a Western-style painter living in Hiroshima, and learned not only oil painting but also the joy of free creative activities such as wood carving and chigiri-e (collage of pieces of colored paper). The woodcarving skills I acquired at that time led me to the idea of carving wood frames for my own photographic works in the 18th year of my debut as a photographer. My uncle is Katsue Otoshi (deceased), a Western-style painter who was the member of Kokugakai (Former Kokuga Sosaku Kyokai).
