Cuban Delight 3

Inspired by the magnificiant portrait of Stefan Weise, aka westimages photography :

I felt compelled to translate photography into a small oil paintings (23cm x 18cm). And I hope to honour it and its inspiration.

How evocative! There is such an infectious liveliness in your take on the photograph, and there must be a "story" between the attractive woman and the man so obviously enjoying the "stogie."
Amazing how a visual can evoke keen olfactory memories. The first thing that came to mind was family gatherings in childhood, when, after dinner, the women adjourned to a sun room but the men took up positions in the den...and out came those robustly fragrant Cuban cigars (still entirely legal in the U.S.).
    Ahhhh....
Thanks for stoking the memory, Susana.

cuban delight: for him it's the cigar! for her… it's definitely him in stefan weise's/westimages photograpy's photograph. i see admiration, awe and a delightful tinge of mischief and doubt in her glance. YOUR painting picks up the doubt and adds a little more oomph to it: in fact, she looks quite skeptical, even though admiration still lingers on her face. in the wake of his virile but stinky ; ) smoke, i guess, she might feel a little neglected sometimes… lots of potential for story here, susana! great work! hugs, sabine. p.s.: if i could paint like that, i'd probably drop the camera altogether! ; ))
