This is an image to the 1974 song from Reinhard Mey.
First published on the the B-side of the single "Mann aus Alemannia", the instrumentation of the original version is only the guitar played by the singer himself.
The song describes the thoughts of the protagonist standing at an airport and watching a plane taking off. It was the airport Wilhelmshaven-Mariensiel, where Reinhard Mey earned his pilot's license.
