Beauty isn't enough....2
Greece
Region of lakes Prespes at the remotest end of West Macedonia, at the borders with Albania and Fyrom.(For history please refer also to the previous photo in the gallery. Thank you very much).
The village Psarades.
Psarades is one of the few and very poor villages in the area. For many years those villages were almost cut off from the main land not only during the long and heavy winters but also in summer because of old and not maintained roads. The locals were struggling to survive with cuttle and fishing from the lakes. In the recent years conditions have much improved with good highways that offered new turistic opportunities together with better and more sofisticated methods of land exploitation. But most of the villages still look poor with plenty of houses in ruins. The village Psarades is the biggest situated by the lake shore.

I always think that people who live in such a beautiful environment should have really clear souls... :)Cameraqueen 11/04/2015 18:15

THE MIGHTY MOUNTAINS – austere guardians, sentinels that keep watch over the village below, both protecting and isolating it… or so it seems… the primeval look to this place – wow! very impressive! the somewaht dark and imposing aura of the mountains… it reminds me of how steinbeck described the santa lucia range in "east of eden"! greetings, sabine.Carlo.Pollaci 06/04/2015 21:44
Scorcio prospettico di grande bellezza, che l'eccezionale nitidezza della foro rende quasi tridimensionale.Un caro saluto,

No matter how good the roads are now, or how they have learnt to get a living from the land, it seems that their hnomes are still dilapidated and out houses falling into ruins.Again the ight here is beautiful showing well the snow and the harsh conditions.
