Ottoman architectural traces
Due to their privileged site the islands in the Aegean Sea have been desirable targets of continuous and exceptional occupational pursuits since Prehistoric times till the 20th century when they were eventually annexed to the Greek territory, One of the most prolonged occupation was that of the Ottomans that left behind significant traces especially in architecture.
In the photo one such islamic architectural construction is quite obvious in the house facade. The majority of those are being saved and preserved till today.

There are those who would demolissh it and tart again... but why. With much patience and of course cash, such buildings could be restored and then use again. They would add much to the attractions of such areas. An excellent doumentary shot.

sadly neglected but still showing the fine old architecture with the typical wooden closed-in balconies ... this house will be a jewel with a bit of work and paint - a great capture of this street scene full of colour and nostalgic beauty, excellent sharp details and fine light !!!greetings, Adele
