Eastern Great Horned owl
This is Sam, my business partner of 17 years as of August 2007. He was a product of nest failure which is fairly common for GHO's. Owls don't build nests, so GHO's often start their family in a structure that is less than adequet. He was rescued and hand reared by humans for a few weeks before he was turned over to me. They saved him, but doomed him to a life in captivity. It isn't as bad as all that, tho... I eat balogna sandwiches so he can dine on quail.

Great face, love those piercing eyes. Very nice! Sounds as though he has been very well treated. :)))Fons van Swaal 26/08/2007 20:02
