Eastern Red-tailed hawk
This is Mina, a 17 year old Red-tailed hawk and my business partner of 13 years. She was legally removed as an eyass from her nest by a falconer. Unfortunately, this guy didn't understand the dangers of imprinting a large buteo and then expecting her not to rip your head off when she is hungry. At least he knew better than to release her back into the wild and so he dropped her off at a local nature center. They wouldn't allow her to freeloft anymore because she kept jumping the attendants which tells me they were not feeding her enough. I was doing some contract work there and we formed some kind of weird bond and so they allowed me to transfer her to my education permit. It's not that I have some magic bullet, I think it may just be that she hated me less than she did everyone else...
