From the castle...
Kithira is an island in the southest tip of Peloponese peninsula. Due to it's strategic position it was, from the very ancient times, site of pirates and conquerors.Part of the Byzantine empire was conquered by the Venetians and from 1204 to 1796 it was a very important strongold and the island was loaded with medieval habitats and beautiful castles. The bigest castle, with a splendid view over Mediterranean, in in Chora the capital which has also many Byzantine churches.
The photo was taken from a favourite spot of my wanderings in the castle and one can see also part of the very old(15th century) church of Pantocratoros with it's very peculiar architectural style.

you succeeded in giving your composition quite a surreal touch! and yes, quite a peculiar architecture!! my first thought, when looking at the preview and not yet knowing that the window belonged to a church, was: "a strange primeval thing, some kind of a ancient bone material, a chimera between a giant tortoise head and a cyclop's skull looking out across the sea… ; ) a fascinating shot, alexander! the longer i look around in it, the more three-dimensional it gets! greetings, sabine.SINA 07/09/2014 10:10
