Kithira island.

Kithira is an island at the southest tip of the Peloponese peninsula. Due to its strategic location, it was, from the very ancient times, a target for merchants, pirates and conquerors. In 1204 it was annexed to the Venetian Mediterranean naval supremacy and remained occupied for five centuries, being eventually conquered by the Brittish. It was eventually given, with the rest of the Ionian islands, to Greece in 1864 as a.. present to the Danish prince George at his inauguration as king of Greece,
In the photo it is not presented the actual island. This is an extention of the northern part of the island, a sort of peninsula, connected with a bridge with the main land.
