I am so sorry...
...for posting this terrible foto, but I have not learned how to take the night sky and I wanted to post a picture of the moon in total eclipse. We had a total lunar eclipse last night, lasting about four hours with the totality lasting about two hours. Logically, it would seem that the moon should disappear when it enters completely into the shadow of the earth, but actually the earth's atmosphere bends the rays of the sun on the red end of the spectrum, so the moon appears to be an orange ball in the sky. It's a bit eerie, since we're so use to seeing the moon as a disk and not as the ball that it represents. Anyway, forgive me. I'll try to do better next time.
