Please Don't Climb the Tree
Not native Hawaiian...Hawaiian plants do not have thorns. I found this one at the Panaewa Rainforest Zoo and Gardens in Hilo.

Wow!!..not a garden that you would walk around in after dark or after a couple glasses of wine.....do ya think Mother Nature was just a little menapausal when she told the monkeys to stay out of these trees or else....:-}))) ....I think that would be too many thorns for a butcher bird....regards, denDRAGA PUC 20/08/2007 22:25

Might be a bit of a problem if someone climbed it! I guess thats why the criminals came to australia our gum tree's aren't that painful... :-)
