Mosaic of "The first (seven steps) steps of the Virgin Mary" from the interior of the church.
This mosaic is presented in the inner narthex of the church and it is considered as the finest piece of Byzantine(Paleologian) Rennaissance in the world...It shows virgin Mary as a little girl trying her first steps astonishing her father Joakim and especially her mother St Anne who, very anxious, rushes to help her... A scripture over the mosaic calls the little girl as the" Virgin trying her first seven steps"- "The sevenstepped Virgin".
